"Oil painting continues to enrich my life by building awareness of the wonders around me."

His still lifes are representational of American Indian art or traditional and American Heritage subjects.   In these the shadows and textures create intrigue, tell a story, or may prompt memories of other times.

He has studied with artists who he greatly admires:  Angie Campbell, Nancy Bush, Michael Albrechtsen, Bill Scheidt, Robert Johnson, and Michael Workman.    He is particularly inspired by the work of George Inness and the Hudson River School.   Mood plays a role in Donald's landscape paintings and he is drawn to scenes that have a misty or foggy quality to them.

"In the following pages you will see those things that I enjoy; the creativity of Native American potters and weavers, the wonderful craftsmanship and whimsy of early Americans, the beauty in simple things like fruit and gourds, and the moodiness of landscapes evoking remembrances and a sense of peace.  Thank you for dropping by."
